The Basic and Advanced Training Division of the Sub-Directorate General of Human Resources for the Police and Civil Guard in Madrid has been chosen as the location for the first international Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Meeting (CIIP), to be held February 18-19, 2010. This interesting event is supported by the participation of numerous organizations from the sector and is to be opened by the Spanish Secretary of State for Security, Antonio Camacho.
Indra is sponsoring the Meeting and will also participate with a talk on "Industry Solutions for ITC Security" followed by a debate on "Risk Management: Identification and Classification of Risks, Threats and Vulnerabilities". The Protection of Critical Infrastructures (PIC) is one of the basic pillars of Spanish National Security, influencing the need to develop effective security strategies to guarantee the continuity of these infrastructures, while also increasing control mechanisms in light of the rapid advance of the Internet and the interconnection of systems, along with the increasing development of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and their constantly growing presence in society.
The primary objective of the meeting, organized by the National Center for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (CNPIC) and the Ministry of the Interior in collaboration with the company TB-Security, is to create a forum in which national and international public and private entities can discuss different aspects affecting this protection, in order to lay the foundations for future collaboration and understanding. To this end, the organizers seek to take advantage of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union as a decisive moment for the promotion of national initiatives which would foster the development of regional policies for cybersecurity and the protection of critical infrastructures at the level of the European Community.
