• Supporting Dubai Airports’ ambitious growth plans until 2020, Indra Navia’s NOVA 9000 will extend the surveillance coverage at Dubai International Airport

Indra Navia has been awarded contracts for two major surveillance upgrades as a part of Dubai International Airport’s (DIA) rapid development project. The contracts include two new Ground Movement Radars (GMR), an upgrade of the three existing radars and an expansion of the existing Multilateration (MLAT) System. Indra Navia’s NOVA 9000 Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (A-SMGCS) will be adjusted accordingly to provide complete airport coverage.

The GMR and MLAT sensor upgrades, combined with upgrades to the NOVA processing system, provide not only immediate efficiency benefits to our operations but also enable us to respond to the future development and growth of our world-class airport operations,” says Yousuf Pirzada, Vice President, Engineering DA-EP, Dubai Aviation Engineering Projects.

The NOVA 9000 A-SMGCS has been operational at Dubai International Airport since 2004. Integrating and fusing data from the new and upgraded sensor systems with the NOVA A-SMGCS processing system provides controllers with significantly improved situational awareness.

“Indra Navia is a top supplier of safety and efficiency-related air traffic management systems for the Dubai Airports. We are proud of having worked together since the turn of the century and appreciate that this latest contract represents the renewal of our relationship,” says Eldar Hauge, President and CEO of Indra Navia.
