Within the framework of a visit to Madrid to meet the heads of the Ministries of Defence (Margarita Robles) and Digital Transformation (Óscar López), Barbón declared that “the Principality will facilitate the implementation and rapid growth of Indra Land Vehicles, the company’s new land vehicle subsidiary, in Asturias” and underlined that “his government maintains an unwavering relationship with the companies in the sector to contribute to the consolidation of the new industrial model in the region”.
As for Escribano, he pointed out that “at Indra we believe that the Spanish defence industry must recover the industrial production capabilities it’s always had, and Asturias is undoubtedly a benchmark for them”, and added that “Indra Land Vehicles will be able to manufacture high-value platforms for defence with 100% Spanish technology, thus meeting the needs of the armed forces”.

In total, the company currently has 400 professionals. This presence will be significantly increased with the arrival of Indra Land Vehicles, strengthening its involvement in a sector such as military vehicles that displays enormous potential for growth in the coming years and makes intensive use of cutting-edge technologies.
In this regard, Barbón highlighted “the industrial and technological potential of the Principality and the driving force and innovative capacity of the defence sector, which is increasingly related to digitalization, robotics and artificial intelligence”. “Indra is a leading company with the capacity and ambition to revitalize our industry and harness and enhance the enormous talent of Asturian engineers, technicians and workers”, he added.
In this respect, Escribano pointed out that “Indra is a company with Spanish capital that retains its decision-making centers in the country and plays a driving role in the entire business and industrial fabric, acting as the backbone of the territory by creating quality and highly-specialized employment and wealth wherever it’s based”.
