Juan Moscoso del Prado
Born in Pamplona in 1966. Doctorate (PhD) in Economic and Business Sciences by the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) (also graduated from UAM, specializing in Economic Theory). Master's in Economics, by the College of Europe, Bruges (Belgium). He also has an Economics Diploma by the University of Kent, Canterbury (United Kingdom).
Senior fellow at Esade Geo and professor (Centro de Economía Global y Geopolítica de Esade) and Head of the Department of Technical Assistance to the General Secretariat and International Relations at the Economic and Social Council of Spain (CES).
30 years of experience in International Economic Relations and Geopolitics, Economic Analysis and Studies, Finance, Institutional Relations, Diplomacy and European Affairs, both in the public and private sector at Analistas Financieros Internacionales (AFI) (1993-1994), Spanish Economic and Social Council (CES) since 1994, Congress of Deputies, Banco Español de Crédito (BANESTO); associate professor at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid (1996-2004) and professor and program director at Deusto Business School (Universidad de Deusto) (2017-2022); as an expert for the European Commission, the International Labor Organization (ILO), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB); and as a private analyst and consultant for different companies as well as in different educational and civil society institutions or foundations.
Member for Navarra in the Congress of Deputies in the 8th, 9th and 10th legislatures (2004-2016), where he was spokesman of the Economy Committee and of the Joint Committee for the European Union, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, chair of the Cortes delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, delegate of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and member of its coordination committee with the United Nations (UN). He was also a member of the Federal Executive Committee of the PSOE. In 2011 he was a candidate for mayor of Pamplona and later councilor.
Author of "Emprendedores y función empresarial en España”. (Instituto de Estudios Económicos, 2008), “Ser hoy de izquierdas". (Deusto, 2014), and 400 articles on economics, international relations, European affairs and politics in specialist journals and the media. Currently, he is a permanent collaborator with El Mundo-Actualidad Económica.
Lecturer, teacher, in a wide range of arenas (universities, postgraduate courses, think tanks, foundations), and he has participated in more than 200 conferences and seminars in 80 countries.
Fellow of Aspen Institute España (and director of the Global Citizenship and Policy Program; Fellow of the German-Marshall Fund in the United States; member of the board of the European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR), member of the board of trustees or council of several Foundations. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Spanish Atlantic Association and Vice-President of the Board of the Spanish Federal Council of the European Movement.
Honoured by the Republic of Italy as “Ufficiale dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia”. He studied high school in Pamplona and in the United States. He speaks English and French.
