Description of the project
DataSpace (DS2) is a Horizon Europe Program Project that brings together researchers and practitioners from diverse disciplines to advance the development of new solutions in the field of data spaces. DS2 aims to ensure that the complex lifecycles of cross-sector data exchange, aggregation and provenance are carried out in a trusted and people-centric way, with common structures, exportability and knowledge, while protecting the rights of data owners and compliance with European regulations.
DS2 provides a modular software infrastructure to connect heterogeneous data spaces for cross-industry sharing. Once connected, information consumers and providers will be able to structure and execute complex and efficient data lifecycles that respect technical and information quality requirements.
To achieve this, an innovative Intersector DataSpace Toolkit (IDT) will be developed to enable the exchange in each data space within a connected network. The IDT enables the implementation of a decentralized architecture by means of a broker that manages the fail-safe operation of the network without a central control point. A set of modules for the execution of complex data lifecycles, filtering and labeling will be connected to it.
DS2 solutions will be tested through three pilots in Greece, Slovenia and Romania in the agriculture, environment and urban planning sectors respectively, plus a fourth pilot that will be transversal to all of them and will demonstrate the interoperability and the real impact of these advances on society.
DS2 enhances and accelerates the shift to the data economy and is compatible with other European initiatives such as Gaia-X.
The DS2 consortium is composed of seventeen partners, which will work for thirty-six months to meet the defined objectives. It has funding of more than seven million euros.

Indra's rol
It participates in technical development using and improving the capabilities of Onesait Platform, an open source platform that facilitates access to resources and provides flexibility to developers so that they can build new solutions in a solid and agile way, based on standards and with a broad development community.
Progress will be made in the capacity to implement a single data model from multiple repositories, provide a collaborative environment for data analysts and make Onesait Platform compatible with the main European innovation initiatives that in a few years' time will be the international industrial benchmark.
