Project Description
The development of this project consists of the update and improvement of a traffic air surveillance Radar system, up to the state-of-the-art regarding its signal receiver and processing capacity. The most modern digitizer FMC and D/A conversion cards will be incorporated to the IndraPSR 2D radar. This change involves changes in oscillators’ generation and also in frequency conversion (up/down) process. Besides, the software processing is to be modified in order to perform in a commercial personal computer multicore, instead of a set of Generic Processor Board with several PowerPC processors each, where a vast amount of multitasking management software, communications among PowerPC processors were required.

Indra's Role
IIndra Sistemas, through its Technology and Product Management business unit, designs radars with application to civil air traffic surveillance in TAR or TMA, in this case the S-band IndraPSR2D radar. Within this scope, PSR-NG project will modernise the RF signal reception chain, along with demodulation and signal processing. A prototype is to be built, and extensive tests carried out in order to reassure that the performance achieved is at least the current performance of the radar in terms of signal quality and processing efficiency.
Technologies used
- Direct RF sampling.
- Direct RF signal synthesis.
- FPGA mezzanine card
- Frequency agility
- Real-time signal processing over multicore Intel processors (PC)
