Maynilad Water Services, Inc. (Maynilad), the Philippines' largest water company in terms of customer base, awarded Indra, the premier IT company in Spain and a leading IT multinational in Europe, a contract for the management of its commercial processes for 7 million Euros spanning a five-year period. The water company covers the West Zone of the greater Metro Manila area, which is comprised of 17 cities and municipalities.
The contract includes the management of different services such as meter reading and onsite billing, and disconnection and reconnection services. For the meter reading and billing, Indra will employ portable devices to generate the water bills on site. This system, to be used for the first time in Manila, will expedite collection since it will guarantee reception of the billing invoice by Maynilad’s customers.
Moreover, the IT company will also implement a Business Intelligence system which will generate operational and analytic reports that will be made available online. This tool will support Maynilad’s management in their analysis and decision making activities.
The project will help Maynilad reduce collection time and optimize reading and billing processes; this will make sure that Maynilad’s customers will have timely and accurate meter reading and billing. The services provided by Indra will also make the connection and disconnection services faster, consistent and more reliable.
Indra’s new contract with Maynilad is a continuation of the IT company’s efforts in serving water companies globally. Indra, in temporary consortium with Proactiva, was recently awarded a contract to manage the commercial activity of Lima's water company, SEDAPAL, for 58 million Euros. The agreement covers the supply, installation and maintenance of meters and IT infrastructure, besides the reading, invoicing, notices and inspections.
