- The company will present its border surveillance solution which has been acquired by five countries
- Indra will also unveil its command and control solution for integral management of emergencies
Indra, the premier IT company in Spain and a leading IT multinational in Europe and Latin America, will attend LAAD this year. It is a biannual Latin American trade show of Aerospace and Defence which will be held in Rio de Janeiro from 12 to 15 of April. The company will exhibit its solutions for border surveillance, command and control, military communications systems, air defence, radar surveillance, unmanned platforms, electronic defence systems and simulation etc.
In the field of border surveillance, the company will present its Exterior Surveillance System. It covers a large part of the Spanish coast, as well as parts of Portugal, Rumania, Lithuania and Hong Kong. The system undertakes the surveillance of over 3,000 km of borders worldwide.
Regarding air surveillance Indra will exhibit its Lanza 3D radar system which is a critical element in the early alert network in charge of the protection of Spain’s air space. The system has also been acquired by Portugal and Uruguay.
The IT company will also prove its experience in unmanned platforms with its Mantis mini UAVs system. Mantis can be transported by either one or two people and is capable of capturing images within a radius of several km in real time.
An example of this type of solutions is the successful deployment of the UAVs currently used by the Spanish Army in Afghanistan. In addition to this, the company is also completing the development of an unmanned helicopter called Pelicano. The helicopter has been especially designed for maritime surveillance and can be transported onboard military ships. Indra is also taking part in many R&D+i European projects associated to this type of technologies.
Emergency management
Indra is at the forefront of the command and control systems segment which is growing in demand and will be presented at the fair. The need to guarantee security in national territory calls for implementation of technologies which improve coordination among the different intervening forces and security corps.
An example of the solid experience of the company is the start up of the Integrated Security and Emergency Centre (CISEM) for the management of all incidents and massive events taking place in Madrid. In addition to this, Indra also equipped the Military Emergency Unit (UME) with an integrated military emergency management system (SIMGE). The system consists of a command and control system which detects risk situations and coordinates interventions. SIMGE has been successfully tested during forest fires, snowfalls, floods, etc.
Besides the above-mentioned solutions, Indra will present its T-SUB satellite communications systems for submarines, the ARL-400 radar alert receiver embarked on the A400M military transport aircraft as well as solutions to countermeasure CBRN. The company will perform a demo of the Spanish Airmobile Forces simulation centre with simulators developed by Indra to train pilots of the Cougar, Chinook and Tiger helicopters.
Indra maintains a strong presence in Latin America and in Brazil since 1996, specifically with Indra Brazil offices in Sao Paulo, Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro, among others. The company collaborates periodically with the country’s armed forces in projects related with satellite military communications, radars and electronic defence systems. Furthermore, the presence of the company has consolidated in markets such as: public administrations, telecommunications; and industry and consumption.
