  • The company will further improve the quality of the service using this global healthcare model which comprehends all the information and hospital management systems of the centre
  • The project reaffirms Indra’s commitment to export its experience and leadership in the development of healthcare systems in Spain

Makati Medical Center (MMC), the Philippines’ premier hospital, gets another upgrade after rewarding Indra, one of the leading IT multinationals in Europe and Latin America, the €1.3-million contract to supply and implement a global healthcare system, which further upgrades MMC’s commitment to total patient care.

In line with MMC’s mission of continually improving their healthcare services, the center will work with Indra for the implementation of their solution (IHS- Indra Health Solution).  The project aims to further improve the quality of MMC’s services, both for its patients and hospital professionals.  With emphasis on improving patient care, the project is envisioned to strengthen clinical safety practices, accessibility to services, and enhancing the overall patient experience. For the hospital professionals, the system equips them with the means to improve productivity and decision-making by providing access to real-time data, optimized clinical and administrative processes and better operating control of hospital resources.

Indra’s Hospital Management and Information System is a complete healthcare solution that addresses the critical needs of any private hospital. It consists of both administrative and clinical system modules. Administrative modules include functions such as patient registration, patient ADT (admission-discharge-transfer), appointment management and scheduling, patient billing and others. The clinical modules used by the medical professionals (doctors and nurses), includes the electronic health record as its core feature.

The project also includes integrating the Indra system with other MMC systems currently being used which include: MMC’s radiology information system and picture archiving system, laboratory information system and their SAP Finance system.

Indra’s Hospital Information Management System, the most advanced technology in healthcare, is the first of its kind to be implemented in the Philippines.

MMC is currently one of the six hospitals under the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), together with Davao Doctors Hospital, Cardinal Santos Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Riverside Medical Hospital, and the recently acquired Asian Hospital.  The implementation of Indra’s healthcare system serves as the pilot implementation for the hospital group, as part of their vision of healthcare in the country.

MMC started operations in 1969, and is now a 469-bed tertiary hospital that provides sophisticated diagnostic, medical and surgical facilities.  With patient wellness in mind, they provide high-quality healthcare services through integrated specialty centers operated by highly qualified physicians and nurses, as well as technical and management staff, sustained by well-developed research and training programs and enabled by state-of-the-art professional equipment and specialized tools.
