Indra is offering civil companies and Armed Forces from all over the world training at the Spanish Navy's Centre for Survival and Safety at Sea in Rota. Since the technological multinational began to offer this service in May, more than 1.500 people have passed through the facility.

In December 2011, Indra and the Navy signed a contract for the centre's maintenance, conservation and use, through which the company is responsible for its operation and maintenance, and in turn it may commercialise any excess unused hours.

The users interested in receiving training at STEC (Survival Training and Emergency Centre) include aircraft and helicopter pilots and crews, naval sector companies, professionals who work on oil and gas platforms, specialists in rescue and emergency efforts and the Armed Forces of other countries.

STEC is one of the most advanced in Europe, equipped with state-of-the-art resources. It has a pool that simulates waves, currents, various weather conditions as well as light and sound effects. The centre also has ship gunwales with a height of up to five metres high, helicopter cockpits to train for crane rescues, approaching oil platform heliports or exiting the cabin in the case of an emergency landing. It is also equipped with a fire fighting simulator (aircraft as well as exterior) and an area for launching flares and pyrotechnic elements. All these aspects make it possible to create realistic training conditions in a setting with maximum safety for students.

Exercises are led by a team of professionals and instructors of recognised prestige that follow the most demanding standards for training civil and military personnel.

With this contract, Indra is able to strengthen its position in the areas of public-private collaboration and of outsourcing services for the Armed Forces.

The agreement is based on a collaboration in which each of the parts involved contributes different resources while establishing common objectives. This allows Indra to operate first rate facilities in order to meet the existing demand for specific training. It also allows the exchange of experience and knowledge between the civil and the military sectors in the area of safety and survival, making it possible to improve the training for the various types of users.
