- The multinational will present its advanced traffic and public transportation management systems and demonstrate its successful implementation of the smart mobility project developed for the city of San Sebastián (Spain)
- Indra is one of the leading global companies in applying intelligent transport systems in urban environments to achieve more efficient and sustainable mobility and progress toward creating a smart city
Indra, one of the leading Technology and Consulting multinationals in Europe and Latin America, is set to take part in CityTech Rome this coming 10th and 11th June, to be held at Aranciera del Semenzaio in San Sisto (Rome). The company will present its most innovative solutions for mobility and public transportation management in the urban environment.
The multinational will demonstrate its intelligent traffic and urban transport management systems (ITS), where it has set benchmarks in countries such as Brazil, the Philippines, China, the United States, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Morocco, Portugal, Poland and Spain.
As a successful example, the company will give a talk at the conference 'Storie di successo: bike/car sharing, mobilità elettrica, TPL, pedonalità, clicabilità, ITS”, set to take place on 11th June at 9:30 am. The presentation will look at the smart mobility project implemented on bus lines in the city of San Sebastián and intercity buses in the Basque region of Guipúzcoa.
The project includes a set of systems aimed at achieving more efficient, ecological and sustainable mobility. It has a bus priority system based on GPS analysis of the vehicle location that improves travel times on public transportation. The solution implemented by Indra links the GPS installed on all buses to the traffic light control center to speed up or extend the time for green lights when a bus is due to pass, giving priority to public transportation as well as enabling priority for a delayed vehicle in terms of its scheduled timetable.
The solution includes a passenger information system enabling estimated arrivals and messaging at stops to be managed, showing real time information to users with the vehicle's estimated arrival and location as well as service warnings or incidents. Alongside this information, passengers have a unified payment system with a contactless rechargeable card valid for public transportation in San Sebastián and Guipúzcoa.
Smart mobility and smart city leader
Operations for the buses in San Sebastián and the region of Guipúzcoa are controlled by Operations Support Systems (OSS) that comprise the real 'brain' behind urban and intercity passenger transport since they enable the system to be managed, efficiency increased and quality improved, promoting use by local residents. The IT multinational has the most advanced OSS technology to improve operations at this type of service, both for private and public transportation operators and authorities.
Indra is one of the top companies in implementing advanced technology for traffic and public transportation management. The development of intelligent transport systems (ITS) in the urban environment enables cities to progress toward the smart city model and achieve more efficient and sustainable mobility. This contributes to cutting traffic jams as well as their direct and indirect costs, minimizing carbon emissions and promoting the use of public transportation.
The multinational has developed projects across all business areas for the smart city and is also one of the few global companies able to provide a comprehensive package that includes strategic and technological planning to information management and integration. As a leading company in urban technology, it has built up vast experience including the application of intelligent systems for mobility and transport, security, communications and location networks, identification of individuals and electronic administration.
