  • The multinational becomes the first company to achieve TMMi certification in the Philippines, Panama, Colombia and Brazil, and is one of the first three to be granted the accreditation in Spain
  • As part of its commitment to innovation and achieving excellence, Indra has pioneered the use of the TMMi methodology, an international standard that measures and improves software quality testing processes and activities

Indra, the largest consulting and technology multinational in Spain and one of the biggest in Europe and Latin America, has simultaneously achieved TMMi level 3 certification for nine of its software labs in five countries. TMMi is an international standard that measures and improves software quality testing processes and activities.

Specifically, the company simultaneously holds certification for software laboratories in Badajoz and Salamanca in Spain; Manila in the Philippines, Panama City; Bogota and Pereira in Colombia; and Salvador de Bahía, Goiânia and Campinas in Brazil.

This certification comes as recognition for Indra's commitment to quality as a driver of excellence and sustainability, as well as the company's ability to run and deploy software development and maintenance projects pursuant to the most stringent international standards, methodologies and procedures.

Indra has pioneered the TMMi methodology in a number of countries, being the first to achieve TMMi certification in the Philippines, Panama, Colombia and Brazil, and is one of the first three to be granted the accreditation in Spain.

TMMi certification for software labs has allowed Indra to improve software testing procedures and enhance stability and reliability, bringing a subsequent competitive advantage and improving customer satisfaction with software deliveries. It also gives the company access to a working method that incorporates all good practices demanded by the model, all of which will help more of the company's units and software labs gain the certification.

The certification process is extremely demanding, both due to the size of the organization and the vast quantity of evidence that must be reviewed, and because the procedure had to be carried out simultaneously in three different languages. The project also represents a milestone in the history of TMMi certification, with this being the first time that processes were evaluated under the 'TAM method', designed by the TMMi Foundation.

The company achieved these ambitious targets, and in under a year, thanks to Indra software labs operating as a single virtual center, all sharing the same corporate culture, human resources, development methods, processes and tools.

Commitment to excellence

Indra's TMMi certification is the result of the firm's commitment to innovation; to constantly improving processes and products while striving for excellence at all times. The certification also demonstrates that Indra's procedures are conducive to optimal project management and staff training, while its engineering techniques guarantee outstanding quality in its software solutions and services.

TMMi is the international standard used to measure and enhance Software Quality and Testing processes and activities. Sponsored by the TMMi Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, the model consists of a clearly-defined set of processes, objectives and practices. Using standards such as TMMi, and subsequently perfecting test procedures, is hugely beneficial for the software industry because it creates more efficient processes, drives the quality of software and improves employee satisfaction, by providing them with the right tools and resources that they need to get their work done.

The Indra certification process was overseen by MTP, a consulting firm specializing in software engineering and quality services, which itself is fully certified to evaluate the software testing processes of third parties, having been recognized in 2013 as a "TMMi Accredited Supplier”. MTP also has team of Consultants and Lead Consultants certified to use the TMMi Foundation evaluation method: the “TAM method r1.0”, while it is also approved to teach the TMMi Professional course as a “Recognized Training Provider”.
