Project Description
SPECTRA project will develop a multi-band cognitive radio technology. New techniques for the global efficiency of wireless systems will be developed in the following five directions:
- the spectral efficiency thanks to the use of cognitive radio techniques in wireless systems,
- the minimization of electronic component number in wireless systems,
- the energy optimization for wireless communication terminals by optimizing architecture design and algorithms implementation,
- the minimization of the generated interference in the environment by selecting the adequate band which will guarantee the shortest transmission distance and the minimum power while preserving the Quality of Service.
- the reliability and robustness of communications, especially when related to public safety operations.
Collaborating Companies or Organisations
Indra's Role
Indra participes in SPECTRA as Spanish leader and being the second heaviest partner in terms of budget/workshare.
Specifically, Indra will focus on:
- Technical work for the Spanish scenario based on Public Safety, SPECTRA system design, integration and provision of the SDR platform and integration of the waveform and cognitive algorithms.
- Management activities during SPECTRA project, both interfacing with Consortium partners and International/National Funding and Evaluation Organisms.
Universities and Technological Centres
Technologies used
- Cognitive Radio
- Software Defined Radio (SDR)
- HW/SW Radio Platforms
- Development methodologies for embedded SW/FW
More information
During 2010 and 2011 (1/09/2010 – 31/12/2011) this project has been funded by “AVANZA2” framework (id: TSI-020400-2010-80) of Industry, Tourism and Commerce Ministry (Ministerio de Industria, Turismo y Comercio); counting these first 2 years with the participation of 2 additional Spanish partners: Wellness Telecom e Inabensa. During last 3 years (2012-2014) this project has been funded by the R&D Subprogram of AVANZA 2 (id: TSI-020401-2012-7) launched by the Industry, Energy and Tourism Ministry (Ministerio de Industria, Energía y Turismo).
