VISIOMAT + RED
Family of products developed by Indra for use in the intelligent traffic control (ITS) systems. Based on advanced image processing and analysis systems, there are many potential applications for this family of products, while the most important include the following:
- Monitoring and Control of traffic in restricted areas
- Control of speeding infractions on highways
- Detection of passing on red infractions
- Traffic statistic analysis: travel times, actual average speed calculation, origin-destination matrix, etc.
One of the latest innovations is the VISIOMAT + RED product. This is an integrated, compact system that comprises the following functional elements:
- High resolution monochrome OCR camera for automatic license plate recognition
- High resolution color context camera for capturing images of the vehicle and the red light that provides evidence of the infraction.
- Low energy electronic process
- IR Illuminators (infrared)
- Ethernet Interface for communications
- GPS module for the synchronization of date/time and position-related information
VISIOMAT + Red provides optimal images that are automatically processed by an OCR engine, ideal for application to moving traffic.
To provide images of optimum quality in varying environmental conditions, the camera is equipped with an infrared light unit installed in the box containing the camera. This infrared light provides excellent daytime and nighttime lighting for reflective vehicle license plates. The effective range is 15 meters, variable depending on specific environmental conditions. The advanced camera technology recognizes license plates 24/7.
Additionally, the system incorporates a color megapixel camera that provides high quality images that make it possible to identify the make, model and color of vehicles committing infractions.
Functionality
- Automatic license plate recognition in ASCII
- Country recognition through pattern identification
- Generation of an infraction file when a vehicle passes a red light. Contains:
- 1 detailed image of the license plate number taken by the OCR camera
- 3 or more context images at different times (before, during, and after the stopping point)
- 1 traffic-related video of varying length
- Control of various lanes separately (different phases of the light)
In addition to the functions inherent to VISOMAT:
- Vision speed calculation
- Distinction of the vehicle’s direction of travel
Other uses that require additional elements
- A special feature of this system makes it possible to combine it with the CIRANO 500m to calculate speed more precisely (<3%) than through image analysis (10%)
- The system can be equipped with a set of antennas that monitor the crossing of pedestrians. It can thus be expanded to apply fines to vehicles that do not respect crosswalks
