- First Spanish company joins the GE Digital Alliance Program around Predix, GE’s operating system for the industrial Internet
- The strategic agreement focuses on all industrial sectors, starting with Energy and Oil&Gas
- GE’s 14,000 developers collaborate on the Predix platform with customers and partners to create new digital applications for the industry
Indra and GE (NYSE: GE) have signed an alliance today to work together to develop Industrial Internet applications on Predix, GE’s operating system for the industrial internet. With this strategic agreement, GE expands its digital presence in Europe and LATAM and promotes the growth of its digital industrial ecosystem in Spain, adding Indra to its alliance program. Indra is the first Spanish company to work on Predix.
Indra and GE will develop and share knowledge and technology to design the next generation of Industrial Internet solutions for a wide range of industrial sectors, starting with Energy and Oil&Gas.
Both companies will offer solutions and services based on Predix, a cloud-based platform for operational technology environments that powers industrial apps. This architecture facilitates the machines’ analysis and data management, resulting in improved asset output and operational efficiency.Predix allows the application of Industrial Internet knowledge to promote better operating experience, greater return on investments and new business models. Indra will train and certify at least 150 developers in this system in the coming years.
Indra has a strong knowledge of technology and business processes related to the industry in general and the energy sector in particular, along with a wide experience in the development, integration and implementation of technologies in other sectors, combining the capabilities in IT (Information Technologies) and OT (Operational Technology) in a unique way to ensure the success of projects.
“Spain and Europe have the talent and infrastructure to lead a productivity revolution and the digitization of the industrial sector must be at the core of this mission,” said CEO of GE Europe Mark Hutchinson. “Thus the agreement represents outstanding news for both companies as well as for the reaffirmation of our commitment to help Spain develop the building blocks for its Industrial Internet and to turn information into insights and insights into outcomes.”
“In our company, we have a leadership approach to our client’s challenges in digital transformation and we want to be a technological and innovative role model in the sectors we operate in”, highlighted Fernando Abril-Martorell, Chairman of Indra. “Thus, we are delighted to share this vision and projects with global allies as prestigious and ambitious as GE. We are convinced that this agreement will help us to identify and develop a significant number of business opportunities together”, he added.
Digital Project at Whitegate Combined Cycle Power Plant
This alliance strengthens the close collaboration that both companies have had for years and that has resulted in the development of one of Europe’s first digital projects: Whitegate Power Plant, in Ireland. The result of this digital transformation – through the application of GE’s APM solution – allowed us to identify a potential reduction of costs of €1.2 million in its first year of operation.
The project combines advanced instrumentation for equipment monitoring and analytic technologies with plant’s management systems, including Indra’s InGEN system.
Building the Industrial Internet ecosystem: Predix and GE Digital Alliance Program
Underpinning this expanding ecosystem is Predix, GE’s operating system for the Industrial Internet, and Predix.io, which allows third-party software engineers to leverage the platform’s capabilities to build, deploy and scale Industrial Internet applications within a safe, secure developer environment.
Predix is a platform where GE’s 14,000 developers will collaborate with customers and partners to create new applications.
Aiming to exchange knowledge, technology and resources, GE has created the GE Digital Alliance Program, the first of its kind dedicated to building the digital industrial ecosystem, giving partners access to digital tools and domain expertise from across GE and Predix.
Indra’s is GE’s first strategic alliance with a Spanish company, along with others signed with leading technology companies, aiming to unlock new applications for the Industrial Internet.
