Minsait, Indra's digital transformation unit, has developed Minsait SmartCop, a solution capable of converting any smartphone into a secure communications system equipped with additional features such as documentation and license plate or biometric verification, access to confidential information and databases, and the possibility of filling out reports.
This allows officers to check whether an identity document or passport is genuine and run a biometric facial and fingerprint analysis to determine whether it belongs to the bearer. It can also automatically read vehicle license plates to make sure it has not been stolen, and check whether the person has any legal warrants pending.
Officers can establish secure videoconferences and calls with a guarantee of total confidentiality, such as in the case of contacting a translation service, for example. The solution's geolocation system means the central station can see where each officer is, thereby improving their safety and making it easier to coordinate in emergencies, as they can deploy the officers that are currently closest to hand.
The Minsait SmartCop system also facilitates the preparation of reports, as it has the option of scanning documents and using the electronic signatures and certificates that confer legal validity on any procedures initiated.
All these features improve the connectivity and information exchange between the police, as the data sent by each officer is first analyzed by the central station and then uploaded to a database which can be accessed by other officers.
Finally, the system also has a range of security measures that constantly assess the possible risks to the device in order to avoid unauthorized persons from accessing the information in the case of loss, theft or even by remote means. This guarantees that the safety of the agent or his or her colleagues will in no case be compromised.
The solution can be installed in the operating systems of the most commonly used mobile devices and be deployed in different formats. It can also be connected via bluetooth, with external fingerprint readers and other devices, and it can read electronic documents using NFC technology when the document has these characteristics, as is the case of the 3.0 ID document.
