- Duqm is the latest Omani airport to deploy the company’s latest innovation in IT solutions. It joins Salalah and Muscat, the latter one of the largest on the Arabian Peninsula
- Indra has made a firm commitment to the “touchless” airport to offer the safety and service levels passengers and airlines require in the Covid-19 era
Duqm Airport has now completed its first year managing all its terminal operations using Indra’s IT Solutions. This is the third airport in Oman that Indra, one of the world’s leading technology and consulting companies, has modernized, thanks to its portfolio Indra Mova Solutions, with which the company is leading the digital transformation of transport.
Indra has already overhauled the IT system at the Salalah Airport terminal and deployed the control center that oversees operations at Muscat International Airport, the country’s main airport and one of the largest on the Arabian Peninsula.
Since September 2019, Duqm Airport has also been providing services employing the different operational solutions provided by Indra, including the common passenger processing system in partnership with international manufacturers that helps managing the handling service and the check-in at departure gates.
The airport also features the advanced flight information visual display system (FIDS) from Indra’s Mova Experience line and the systems, communication networks and satellite TV connection from Mova Comms.
The company has digitalized the airport’s management to offer travelers the utmost protection, comfort and mobility, and deliver Oman Airports Management the tools they need specifically, the Master Control Centers and IT solutions, to manage their operations as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
The expansion of Duqm Airport is part of the city’s plans to build up its domestic and international connections, attract investors, boost tourism and support local industry and the city’s port activity.
Indra thus consolidates its leadership in the airport systems market in Oman through punctual collaborations with other large manufacturers (SITA or TELTRONIC). reinforcing its position as air traffic systems leader provider in the country.
The company has carried out more than 300 airport projects in over 87 cities around the world. It has over 30 years’ experience in the development and deployment of solutions for the transportation and mobility sector and has solutions to transform a smart digital airport into a touchless one.
Indra Mova Solutions portfolio covers the entire life cycle of its clients’ projects and combines new digital capacity with the integration, specialization and innovation the market demands. It does so through reliability, knowledge of the business, its own transportation technology and the unique experience of its team of professionals.
Touchless airports in the Covid-19 era
The Covid-19 pandemic is forcing airports to become touchless in order to operate safely. Indra has the most advanced technologies available to achieve this. These include:
• Passenger Flow solutions to control the flow of travelers at any point in the terminal. The use of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence technologies help to efficiently manage indoor spaces and the related resources, in particular those areas where crowding may occur: check-in desks, security checks, information points and departure gates.
These can predict and anticipate passenger demand and their behavior, facilitating a better management of operations, especially in times like these, in which enrollment processes and time slot assignments are being implemented for arrivals.
• Indra’s passenger care management platform, a tool that provides a complete view of what is happening at the airport to protect passengers safety, security, and health at all times integrating video surveillance systems, access doors, as well as passenger temperature detection systems with thermographic cameras. Indra has recently implemented this type of cameras in thirteen Spanish airports.
