- Indra is a key partner for the main systems of the world’s most advanced multi-role combat aircraft
- Indra will develop and integrate core elements of the Electronic Scanning Radar MK1, the DASS Praetorian protection sub-system and 14 other systems, reinforcing its position as avionics supplier for the fighter
- The radar and the protection system are the two key systems that bring superiority to the aircraft in terms of attack capabilities, protection from threats and stealth
Indra, one of the main global technology and consulting companies and a global leading defence company, has concluded contracts totaling €100 million to equip the 38 Eurofighters that the German Ministry of Defence has acquired as part of the Quadriga program with next-generation systems to guarantee the air superiority of the aircraft in the coming decades.
With this program Indra will reinforce and expand its position as supplier of technological systems for the European fighter plane, one of the most advanced in the world.
In consortium with German sensor solutions provider Hensoldt, Indra will develop and produce the novel ECRS Mk1 electronic scanning radar. This radar will provide multi-function capabilities for tracking several close-range targets while simultaneously scanning the airspace hundreds of kilometers away for potential threats. ECRS Mk1 will become the key sensor that will provide the aircraft with air-to-air and air-to-ground combat dominance.
In addition, as a member of the EuroDASS consortium, Indra will provide the DASS protection sub-system. This element alerts the pilot in the event of the detection of threats to the aircraft and activates different nature countermeasures, interfering with and deceiving the enemy’s electronic systems.
The Quadriga program contract also includes the supply and integration of up to 14 additional sets of avionics equipment for the different key sub-systems of the platform (e.g. the communications, cockpit survival systems, consumables monitoring, platform health management, etc.).
Indra has worked on the system development, production and maintenance for the Eurofighter since the earliest stages of the program. The company has progressively increased its participation and gained the acknowledgment of its partners, becoming one of the companies with the greatest involvement in the largest European defence program to date.
Indra has contributed to provide this aircraft with capabilities that place it with the most advanced aircrafts in the world. For example, the Eurofighter has recently protected the airspace of the Baltic, demonstrating clear technological superiority.
With the acquisition of a new consignment for the Luftwaffe, the Eurofighter is set to provide service until 2060.
Indra’s participation in the evolution of the Eurofighter will complement its role as the Spanish coordinator of the NGWS/FCAS Future Air Combat System development program, for which it is the international leader in the sensor pillar and the domestic leader in three other pillars.
