Indra’s advanced ticketing technology for T-mobilitat has won the “best smart ticketing program - over a million trips per day” category at Transport Ticketing Awards 2025. The award, presented in London at Transport Ticketing Global 2025, the world’s leading ticketing event, acknowledges the most innovative projects related to mobility solutions. Indra was nominated in five of the eight categories of these prestigious awards, demonstrating the company’s leadership of the sector.
Indra’s multi-modal and interoperable platform for T-mobilitat integrates more than 70 subway, bus, streetcar and commuter train operators into a single technological solution that enables over 7.5 million inhabitants in the Barcelona metropolitan area to travel with an integrated fare system. Its implementation has proved to be a major breakthrough in the digitization of public transport, significantly improving the user experience and optimizing the system’s operational efficiency.
“The award constitutes recognition of Indra’s ability to manage innovative and highly complex projects involving public entities and private companies alike, demonstrating the company’s commitment to the development of sustainable mobility platforms geared towards passengers. With T-mobilitat the company is contributing to the transformation of mobility, making it more efficient, sustainable and citizen-oriented, qualities to be found in all of our urban transport solutions”, declared Raul Ripio, general manager of Mobility & Technology at Indra.
Indra’s leadership of the mobility sector was also reflected in the award presented to Dbus, the bus operator in San Sebastian-Donostia, which was distinguished in the category of operators registering fewer than 200,000 daily journeys for its ticketing system developed using Indra technology.
During the event, Indra showcased its most innovative solutions for automatic ticketing and access control, which guarantee a better user experience thanks to an aesthetic and usability similar to that of a smartphone and the incorporation of technology allowing direct validation with a bank card (EMV), cell phone or smartwatch. Specifically, it showcased the systems developed for the Riyadh Metro, which are being incorporated throughout the city’s subway and bus public transport network.
As a flagship smart mobility company, Indra advocates the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as Be-In-Be-Out (BIBO) automatic validation, Account Based Ticketing (ABT) and Mobility as a Service (MaaS) platforms, all of which can optimize travel planning and guarantee the best fare and experience for each user.
With over 2,500 mobility projects in more than 100 cities around the world, Indra continues to foster solutions that make transportation and mobility more efficient, safe and sustainable in large conurbations such as Riyadh, London, Dublin, Amsterdam, Lisbon, Madrid, Sydney and Manila. Its latest projects include the contract for the integrated management of the ticketing system for the entire public transport network in Ireland, including streetcars, buses and the national rail network, as well as the future Dublin Metro, thus consolidating its standing as a key technological partner in the transformation of urban mobility.
