  • It seeks to promote research and development projects associated to systems which support management, information and assistance processes; integral management of surgery-related procedures, navigation and clinical simulation platform

The Regional Ministry of Health and Indra, the premier IT company in Spain and a leading multinational in Europe, have signed a cooperation agreement which seeks to generate knowledge in order to improve citizen care and to modernize the health services. Shared experience and specialized means in terms of health and Information technologies will boost the search for knowledge and technology applicable to the Health sector.

The Health councilor, Luis Maria Truan; Indra’s Director of Public Administration and Health, Jesús Gil-Ortega; the General Director of Health Care Planning and Health Council , Fernando Villoria and the Medical Director of Teaching Hospital Marqués de Valdecilla, Rafael Tejido attended the event.

The agreement includes research and development projects associated to support systems of hospital assistance and prescription issuing, navigation platforms and clinical simulation as well as solutions for the integral management of surgery-related procedures. The cooperation will be extended to R&D&I not only at national level but also across Europe.

For the followup and execution of this agreement, with a validity of three years, a mixed commission will be created consisting of four members. They will undertake the study y and approval of proposals and inclusion of new projects.

Promotion of research

With this agreement, the Regional Ministry of Health seeks to promote scientific investigation in the sector with dissemination of necessary knowledge and training for the sector professionals. At the same time, it aims to enhance citizen care and tackle the new challenges and needs of the society with efficiency.

The Regional Ministry of Health and Indra maintain a close relationship since the IT company implemented and managed the electronic prescription for Cantabria’s Regional Government.

Currently, more than 32 million people in over 10 countries benefit from Indra’s health solutions and systems. Professional users exceed 100,000 in over 5,600 health centres and hospitals making 500,000 daily medical appointments possible. Indra’s technologies and knowledge applied to health are based on its health solutions portfolio which specialises in Telemedicine, digital Imaging, electronic prescription or electronic medical records, among others. This platform is the fruit of cumulative experience in the development of projects for private and public sectors, at both national and international levels, which translates into an opportunity thanks to system interoperability after decentralization in health care.
