  • Indra forms part of the consortium that has designed this solution, which will facilitate the exchange of information about cybernetic threats

  • The prototype will enable simulations with the agents involved in protecting critical infrastructures

  • This R&D project is promoted by the European Commission

Indra has participated as a technological partner in the development of CloudCERT's new features that will enable the agents involved in protecting critical European infrastructures to share information about cybernetic threats and vulnerabilities in a secure manner.

The consortium responsible for its development, led by INTECO, presented the prototype this past Friday, 22 November, at the offices of Spain's State Secretariat of Telecommunications and Information Society in Madrid.

The platform will provide a testing environment in which the Information Technology Security Incident Response Centres (CERTs), National Authorities and operators of critical infrastructures throughout the European continent will be able to perform simulated exercises.

CloudCERT is a collaborative web platform that allows exchanging information about cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities and risks, improving the coordination and cooperation of the agents involved in order to effectively manage the critical assets of cybernetic attacks.

Its design guarantees confidentiality in information exchanges and ensures that the people who handle this information are identified and have undergone precise security controls on behalf of each country.

It also minimises the obstacles that hinder cooperation between the operators of critical infrastructures that face common security issues despite working in very different sectors.

Within the CloudCERT project, Indra's Cybersecurity and Intelligence teams have defined the format and the content of the information that is shared, analysing the standards available and defining the information exchange protocol. They have also handled the final integration.

Indra's participation in this project positions it as one of the leading companies in the field of cybersecurity. It has collaborated with the Spanish National Centre for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (CNPIC in Spanish) to prepare the minimum contents of the Operator Security Plans and the Specific Critical Infrastructure Protection Plans--which must be implemented by operators in Spain--as well as the best practices guides for their creation. Indra has established the i-CSOC advanced cybersecurity centre, a proprietary facility through which the company provides services for businesses and the public sector to protect their networks and systems.

The CloudCERT project is coordinated by the Spanish Instituto Nacional de Tecnologías de la Comunicación (INTECO, National Institute of Communication Technologies), with the involvement of the National Centre for the Protection of Critical Infrastructures (CNPIC in Spanish) as the primary user, the ICSA Foundation (Intelligence Culture and Strategic Analysis),  Zanasi & Partners, Europe for Business and Indra.
