- The multinational has renewed its presence on the DJSI World index and is the only company in the technology subsector of IT and Internet Services that has maintained its place since it first appeared on the list in 2006
- Its continued presence in this ranking further endorses Indra as a value for socially responsible investment, and recognizes its commitment to value creation and to constant improvement in transparency, corporate governance and sustainable development
For the tenth year running, Indra has maintained its presence on the World Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), and is the only company in the technology subsector of IT and Internet Services that has remained on the world index without interruption since it was first included in 2006.
In this 2015/2016 edition, Indra has retained its positive general score in the economic, social and environmental variables, improving its performance particularly in these last two aspects. These advances have served to make Indra one of the eight companies in the sector to be included on the index, out of the 76 companies from all over the world invited to take part.
Indra's continued presence on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as a leading company on a global scale represents the recognition of its pursuit of excellence and its policy of ongoing improvement in transparency, environmental and social management, innovation, sustainability development and corporate governance. Its inclusion also reinforces the status of the company's stock as a socially responsible investment.
The Dow Jones Sustainability World Index fluctuates widely, and each year sees new additions and evictions as its demands become progressively more stringent, a policy that drives businesses to constantly improve their performance. Indra's continuation is therefore a testament to the company's commitment to value creation and sustainability over the long-term.
The DJSI World index is compiled by RobecoSAM, the investment firm specializing in sustainability, and selects the 317 most socially responsible companies from among the 2500 largest companies in the world.
Since 1999 the family of indexes that form the Dow Jones Sustainability Index has been compiled with information requested previously from companies with the highest market capitalization, and serves as a reference index for the business and financial sectors. The information and data required to determine the incorporation of a company into the DJSI is obtained from an analysis of a wide- ranging questionnaire and from the information openly available on the companies. The companies that form part of the DJSI are publicly recognized as leaders in the social and environmental sphere, and as having significant economic activity.
Recognition for transparency
Indra's annual report has also been recently chosen as the best in the world in the technology sector by the Report Watch ranking, one of the most wide-ranging and prestigious in the world. The multinational has improved its global score for its report from B to B+, and has risen 47 places in the general ranking.
Indra remains in second place among the eight Spanish companies featured in the “top 400” of the best annual reports worldwide from a cohort of around 2,000 listed companies from a selection of the foremost in the world, whose reports are analyzed and assessed by the Belgian company e.com and a panel of outside experts.
Being part of this ranking is a recognition of Indra's commitment to transparency and its undertaking to offer the best information to its stakeholders.
In 2008 Indra started publishing a report with comprehensive and integrated details of the company's economic, social and environmental performance, and in 2012 it became the first Spanish company to publish an annual integrated report in line with the new model introduced by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC).
Indra was one of the seven Spanish companies and one of the three world technology companies chosen to take part in the pilot program of the IIRC, which in 2014 defined and published a framework for integrated reports as a means of ensuring that organizations offer more complete and comprehensive information. Since 2014, Indra has been one of the companies in the IIRC's Business Network that is spearheading the practical application of the guide, and is also part of the IIRC's Technology Initiative –along with another five companies from all over the world– whose goal is to identify how technology can help companies to adopt the integrated reporting model.
