  • The system measures body temperature precisely and quickly and can detect people with mild fever symptoms, a key capability to enhance passenger safety without causing delays. It also reduces overcrowding during security screening and minimizes risks for airport staff
  • Indra has deployed its solution in airports, including the busiest ones in terms of air and passenger traffic: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche, Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Valencia, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Seville, Fuerteventura and Menorca

Indra has deployed passenger temperature control systems in thirteen spanish airports

Aena has entrusted Indra, one of the leading global technology and consulting companies, with the deployment of the passenger temperature control system using thermographic cameras already in operations in thirteen of its airports, including the busiest ones both in air and passenger traffic. Aena is working closely with the Spanish Foreign Health Authority in these monitoring and control tasks by providing the technological means necessary for the installation and use of the thermographic cameras.

Indra has been awarded the contract of one of the two orders in a public tender. Indra’s cameras have been installed in the following airports: Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas, Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, Palma de Mallorca, Malaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante-Elche, Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Valencia, César Manrique-Lanzarote, Seville, Fuerteventura and Menorca.

The system comprises fixed cameras in the arrival halls and mobile backup cameras, which will enable random checks to be performed anywhere in the terminals

The technology used by Indra is characterized by its high precision and sensitivity. The cameras' thermographic sensors have a black body with a fixed temperature that ensures their accuracy.

In addition, this is a smart solution that can automatically detect the passenger without requiring them to stop or stand at a specific distance.  It can recognize a person's face and spot the areas covered by face masks, caps or other items to select the right place for an accurate temperature measurement. And all this with no human intervention whatsoever.

The solution gives more safety to passengers without causing delays, it also reduces overcrowding during security screening and minimizes risks for airport staff.

The capacity of this solution to detect people with fever or febricula in an airport or any other transport facility is key to avoid infection.

This technology for temperature control, identifying and warning of disease symptoms identification and alert is part of Indra’s Mova Protect solutions line and is integrated in a set of systems for the management and control of people and passenger mobility in different means of transport.

Airports are safe with Indra technology

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced airports all around the globe to reduce their activity to the minimum. The process of resuming regular operations they are currently facing requires the implementation of innovative technologies. Among all the innovative technologies currently offered by Indra, the following stand out:

•    Passenger Flow solutions to control the flow of passengers at any point in the terminal. Technologies such as Big Data or Artificial Intelligence which help the efficient management of inner spaces and associated resources, especially those the areas where overcrowding is likely to occur: check-in desks, security controls, information spots or gates.

These technologies also enable passenger’s demands and their behavior to be predicted, thus achieving a more efficient management of routine operations, especially in times like these, when processes of enrollment or slot allocation for arriving flights are being implemented.

These solutions are part of Indra Mova Solutions, the most efficient response to the challenges the sector is facing, with a range of end–to–end solutions that facilitate digitalization within the management of any transport infrastructure and guarantee the highest protection and mobility for passengers. These solutions also increase the effective capacity, security and sustainability and efficiency of the infrastructure.

•    Indra’s physical security information management platform (iSIM) is a tool which provides a single vision of what is going on at every moment in the airport and facilitates a comprehensive control of all the video surveillance, access control, megaphones and intrusion detection systems, as well as systems for temperature detection with thermographic cameras.

The solution helps the airport managers implement safety management standardized procedures in a fast and flexible fashion.

Indra has more than 30 years of experience in the development and deployment of solutions for the transport and mobility sector and provides solutions that help turning a “Smart” digital airport into a “Touchless” airport.
