The Sultanate of Oman has once again placed its trust in Indra’s technology to strengthen its air defence system, after awarding the company a contract to equip the Royal Air Force of Oman (RAFO) with new Lanza 3D long-range early warning radars.
The secretary general of the Ministry of Defence of the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Dr. Mohamed Bin Nasser Al-Zaabi, and Indra Group chairman Ángel Escribano have signed the contract at Indra’s headquarters in the company of several officials from the Omani and Spanish Ministries of Defence and heads of Indra Group.
The project includes the design, supply and installation of Lanza 3D-LRR fixed-site radars, as well as the supply of radio voice communications systems and integration with the command and control system, which was also delivered by Indra. The scope also includes increasing the capacity of the Sultanate of Oman’s air force to perform third-level maintenance of its radars. The new systems will thus enhance Indra’s comprehensive Lanza radar-based air defence system in Oman, the deployment of which was completed in 2020.
Oman’s renewed confidence in Indra is an acknowledgment of its state-of-the-art technology and its undertaking to offer the very best response to its customers’ needs and forge long-term relationships. It will also contribute to Indra’s strategy of reinforcing its standing and footprint in the Middle East.
Indra has a subsidiary in Oman with a team of 30 professionals. Since its arrival in the country in 2010, it has undertaken major projects in the defence and security, space, and air traffic management (ATM) businesses.
