  • The company will partner on defining and validating technologies to guarantee security and privacy in the digital realm
  • It will support the initiative alongside leading European companies, institutions, universities and governments

Indra has joined Trust in Digital Life (TDL), the European open R&D group that seeks to promote the development of reliable and secure information and communication technologies that protect the privacy of citizens.

As a member of the association, Indra will benefit from synergies with leading technology companies, while improving its ability to detect new user requirements, enhancing its range of solutions and taking part in multinational initiatives.

Meanwhile, Indra brings to the group its extensive experience in developing ICT systems and comprehensive expertise regarding the needs of the major customers that it works with in all industries. Likewise, it is capable of quickly validating and testing new technologies, and getting them to the market quickly.

TDL has been singled out by the European Commission, within its Cybersecurity Strategy, as one of the public-private associations that will be able to drive security improvements for European industry.

Founded in 2009 by Gemalto, Microsoft, Nokia and Philips, TDL seeks to create a balanced team of companies, universities, legal firms, legislators and government officials to jointly develop reliable systems for users. At present it has more than 25 partners, which is set to rise to 40 this year.

Citizens, government figures and businesses increasingly depend on the digital environment for relations, exchanges and operations, which is why the association has given itself the mission of monitoring cybersecurity incidents, raising awareness of the need to improve security in the digital world and to identify and validate interoperable authentication tools that allow the public to make secure use of online services.

TDL also identifies the standards that technology platforms handling user data must comply with in order to guarantee end-to-end security; from users entering their information right through to it being received. It also creates platforms to improve security on mobile devices.

To this end, TDL develops scenarios and case studies to verify that technologies meet all security and privacy standards. It also coordinates European initiatives to reduce fragmentation in the development of reliable systems, thus optimizing the industry's efforts.
