Indra, the premier IT company in Spain and a leading multinational in Europe, has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSWI) and Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index (DJSI STOXX) for the fifth consecutive years and appears a leading company again in the subsector of IT services and Internet.

It is the only European company in this subsector and the criterion for the award of the first place, as in 2007 and 2008, is based on economy, environment and social aspects. The company achieved the best global mark and is ahead North American companies such as; IBM and Teredata or the Indian Tata and Wipro.

Crisis and risk management, privacy protection, IT security or the management of customer service are the areas which scored the highest as well as environment and social reports. These aspects along with a good global mark and the improvements in the conduct code or the climate strategy have contributed to Indra’s leadership in the IT services segment, one of the five subsectors that make up the technology sector.

Indra’s presence in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as a leading company worldwide entails an acknowledgement to the company’s policy in terms of corporate responsibility, sustainable development and corporate governance. It also reinforces its performance as part of the socially responsible investment.

Sustainability reference index

The DJS World Index selects the 318 most socially responsible companies among the world’s 2.500 largest companies comprised in the Dow Jones World Index. Being part of this list entails an acknowledgment to the company’s performance in the economic, environment and social sectors.

The Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index (DJSI STOXX) selects the 170 European leading companies in sustainability among the 600 companies that make up the DJ STOXX 600 European index.

The indexes that constitute the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index (DJSGI) is being elaborated since 1999 using information requested to companies with the largest stock market capitalisation and that provides the entrepreneurial and financial sectors with benchmarks. The necessary information to rate a company as eligible into the DJSGI is obtained through the analysis of an integral questionnaire and from public information provided by companies. Companies awarded “Member of the DJSI” are publicly acknowledged leaders in the social, environmental sectors and of great economic activity.

Permanence in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index entails an acknowledgement to the company’s creation of value and sustainability.
