Indra joins the small group of core member companies of ITxPT, the non-profit association that sets out to study, define and provide standardization to facilitate the integration of systems into public passenger transport
Indra, a leading global technological engineering company for the aerospace, defence and mobility sectors, has obtained the ITxPT certification that accredits the quality and interoperability of its solutions for land public transport.
The ITxPT standard is in increasing demand among the most advanced and discerning mobility agencies and operators in the sector, given that it facilitates full interoperability between Information Technology systems and solutions. This improves the cost-effectiveness of the systems and facilitates their deployment, ultimately promoting sustainable mobility.
More specifically, Indra has certified BRT (Bus Rapid Transit), the onboard solution for buses and streetcars that forms part of its OSS (Operations Support System). The solution is capable of integrating the control and location capabilities into a single device, as well as those for ticketing, passenger control, traveler information, video surveillance and traffic light priority, which can be added independently or jointly in keeping with the requirements of the project.
“To obtain the ITxPT certification we’ve had to undergo demanding laboratory tests to demonstrate our compliance with the highest quality standards and the interoperability of our onboard solution for public transport. This achievement allows us to move forward towards our goal of stimulating integrated and standardized mobility services for citizens and makes us a distinctive brand, as this seal is in increasing demand among public transport systems around the world”, says Hugo Molinero, head of Indra’s SAE product.
In addition to its onboard solution, Indra is currently working on the process to certify its Operations Support System platform, as well as other mobility business solutions, such as its control center platform and its ticketing systems.
This certification has arrived together with Indra’s joining the ITxPT association as a core member. This is a non-profit organization whose purposes are to study, define and provide standardization to facilitate the integration of systems into public passenger transport.
Few companies in the world have the privilege of being core members of this association, whose purpose is to support integrated and standardized mobility services, sustainable mobility and interoperability while protecting openness and ongoing competition in the public transport technology market.
For this purpose, it supports all the players in the sector with all the specifications required to obtain the certified Plug-and-Play feature when they purchase technological systems for use in public transport, besides pooling its experience and the best practices for this standard.
Indra has a unique track record in the transport industry, with over 2,500 projects completed in more than 50 countries. Its smart technology manages more than 15,000 buses for over 100 operators across the world, a group that was recently joined by Brisbane Metro. Indra will implement its technology to manage the new fleet of clean and environment-friendly vehicles set to promote green mobility in the Australian city, which joins the 100-plus cities around the world that have already placed their trust in Indra’s solutions to make their mobility more efficient, connected, safe and sustainable.
