  • The new Brazilian technology park will bring together leading innovative companies, public administrations and academia with the aim of developing pioneering products and processes
  • In this centre, Indra will implement proprietary solutions for a variety of sectors, expanding its capacity to meet the specific demands of regional and international customers
  • Brazil is the main international market for the multinational, where it has more than 6,500 professionals as well as offices in the largest cities, in addition to two software labs

Indra, one of the leading technology multinationals in Europe and Latin America, will open a research and development centre in the Technology Park of Bahía's Technocenter, which will open this year in Salvador. Indra, together with two other companies chosen to form a part of this project, will be housed in the central building of the Technology Park. Thus the multinational will expand its presence in the State of Bahía, an important Brazilian hub for development, and will participate in a project that seeks to boost the region's economy in a similar way to the growth that took place in the 1950s and 1970s with the creation of the Landulpho Alves Refinery and the Camaçari Industrial Complex, respectively.

The Technocenter has been created with aim of spreading innovation and bringing together and integrating innovative companies, academia and the public administrations in order to develop products and processes that will have a positive and prominent impact in the region. For this reason the centre will be based on bringing together the main agents for revitalisation devoted to generating creative ideas and solutions. Its creation is being coordinated by the Secretary of Science, Technology and Innovation of the State of Bahía.

The Technology Park will have three central axes: Innovation (as a means of attracting companies); Technology (supporting the interaction between universities and companies; and Science (a strategy to promote scientific output). Three priority areas will be Biotechnology and Health; Information Technology; and Energy and Engineering.

In this new centre, Indra will develop solutions to meet the needs of companies in the sectors in which it operates and, in this way, expand its capacity to meet the specific demands of its regional and international clients.

For Indra, Brazil is its largest international market. It is also its second largest market in terms of turnover. Moreover Indra has been present in Brazil for 15 years and has offices in the main cities, as well as two software labs.

Committed to Innovation

Indra's presence in the Technocenter is in line with its commitment to Innovation, applied both in the continuous improvement of processes as well as in the development of new solutions and services, which, in turn, translate into increased quality, productivity and competitiveness.

This is possible thanks to the work of acknowledging emerging technologies and constant efforts to improve employee skills. Moreover, the philosophy of these centres allows Indra to attract the regional talent. The company will reinforce its policy to work in conjunction with universities and research centres with the aim of creating a solid local base for the development of technological skills and programmes to attract young professionals.

Indra has a network of more than 75 Centres of Excellence and software labs in 40 cities, 25 of which are in Latin America. These centres specialise in specific technologies or knowledge areas and are therefore able to promote greater efficiency in production and harness any economies of scale that may arise. They operate as advanced laboratories offering cutting-edge technological trends to develop bespoke solutions for customers, applying the latest models of productivity and carrying out important work in the field of R&D.

Indra currently has agreements with more than 150 Universities, Research Centres and Business Schools.
