Indra, the leading Spanish multinational consulting and technology firm and one of the main players in Europe and Latin America, will once again participate in the Trafic Fair, the International Road Safety and Equipment Show, where it will present the most innovative traffic management and intelligent technology solutions for improving urban mobility and moving towards the smart cities model.
The company will display its comprehensive, advanced technology traffic management and control solutions, intelligent transport systems (ITS), tunnel control systems, as well as toll and electronic toll systems that it has already implemented in more than 50 countries throughout the world, including the United States, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, China, India and the Philippines.
In this edition, the multinational will place special attention on intelligent traffic and transport management systems for urban settings, and it will explain the foundation on which to implement a more extensive smart cities model that includes additional services. For example, a scale model of Indra's Atenea solution will be on display in its stand. This urban platform is used to manage smart cities and it allows integrating and managing all the services and solutions that comprise a city's ecosystem. One of the pillars for developing this platform was the Hermes system. The company equips urban mobility control centres with this solution, which allows monitoring the various subsystems in real time and tracking traffic continuously.
On 16 October, Alonso Bautista Trovo, Director of Indra's Transport & Traffic market, will participate in the Business Success Stories conference with the presentation titled "Implementing Smart City Systems in Medellin". He will explain the pioneer intermodal transport and intelligent traffic management project that the multinational is completing in the Colombian city.
Medellin, from intelligent mobility to a smart city
Indra has developed an intermodal public transportation system in Medellin that is the only one of its kind in Colombia and that facilitates the management and combined use of the subway system and buses. It has also implemented the intelligent traffic management systems (ITS) and a new integrated traffic control system for the city, based on its Hermes system.
The new traffic control centre is the largest in Colombia in terms of the number of systems integrated in a single platform. It receives, integrates, operates and analyses information from multiple traffic subsystems and six independent control centres: Public Transportation, Incidents Centre, Police Fleet Control, Police Logistics Planning and Mobility, Infractions Control, and Traffic Light Control Centre.
The Medellin project is a good example of how applying intelligent transport systems (ITS) in urban environments enables cities to move towards the smart city model and achieve a more efficient and sustainable mobility. This contributes towards reducing traffic congestion and the resulting direct and indirect costs, minimising contaminating emissions and promoting the use of urban transportation.
Indra is one of the leading companies in the development and implementation of intelligent technology to manage traffic and public transportation in urban areas, with customers in the Philippines, China, the US, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Peru, Morocco, Portugal, Poland and Spain.
Indra is the leading consultancy technology multinational in Spain and a leader in Europe and Latin America. Innovation is the cornerstone of its business and sustainability, having allocated more than €550 million to R&D&i in the last three years, making it one of the leading companies in Europe in its sector in terms of investment. With sales approaching €3,000 million, nearly 60% of its income is from the international market. The company employs 42,000 professionals and has customers in 128 countries.
