Indra presents its new light surveillance aircraft at the latin american aerospace and defence fair

 Indra will display for the first time its new light maritime surveillance aircraft at FIDAE, the reference fair for the aerospace and defence industry in Latin America, which will take place from 27 March to 1 April. The company will also exhibit its developments for the most advanced technological programmes in Europe: the Eurofighter, the A400M, the Leopard, the new vessels and frigates for the Spanish Navy as well as the Tierra Paz observation satellite, among others.

The company will show in his stand a prototype of its MRI surveillance plane that is right now under development and will be ready to enter service by the fourth quarter of 2012. This system expands the solutions offering with which Indra addresses land, sea and air Defence and Security needs. The aircraft includes an advanced radar system, an AIS vessel identification system, a wide bandwidth data link and a state-of-the-art electro-optic device. This technology offers the highest level of effectiveness in exploring and monitoring maritime spaces.

With a range of up to 200 nautical miles, this new plane strengthens the control exercised by the systems Indra develops for patrol vessels, with a range of up to 100 nautical miles. It also complements coastal surveillance systems, which have a range of 50 nautical miles. Indra is the leader in rolling out this last type of solution, with more than 3,500 kilometres of border surveillance throughout the world.

The company will also display at FIDAE its Mini UAV Mantis, which is a system that offers terrain intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance abilities.

For Land, the company introduces its command and control systems for defence, security and emergency management. Indra is a pioneer in this field and has references such as the system that manages security for the city of Madrid or the one used by the Spanish Military Emergency Unit for managing its involvement in natural or industrial disasters.

To manage Army operations, Indra has developed its own command and control system (BMS Battlefield Management System) that allows the exchange of data, images and orders between the command centre and the troops deployed in the theatre of operations.

For air surveillance and security, Indra will display its air traffic management systems, C4I systems and the LANZA 3D surveillance radar, which comprise the main system for the surveillance of the south western European air space within the Atlantic Alliance.

New dimensions: Space and Cyberspace

Today, the use of land observation systems is essential for guaranteeing security. Indra will provide information about its abilities in this field. In the land segment, the company is developing two Spanish high resolution satellites--one optical (Ingenio) and the other with a radar sensor (Paz). It also participates in key European programmes such as GMES (Global Monitoring for Environment & Security), which will provide Europe with an independent Earth observation capacity. In terms of satellite communications, Indra will present its experience in rolling out the Spanish network (SECOMSAT), which has more than 300 terminals in operation, as well as its long-time collaboration with Brazil in rolling out its military satellite communications network (SISCOMIS).

Lastly, if Space is the fourth dimension of security and defence, Cyberspace is the fifth domain and closes the comprehensive concept of security and defence that Indra addresses with the solutions it has developed. In this regard, the company has areas specialised in the protection of communication links through the use of advanced authentication and encoding techniques, as well as in the design and implementation of the most modern cyber-defence solutions, which also include intelligence solutions for anticipating attacks.
