- Indra's continued presence in the ranking represents recognition of its commitment to transparency, ethics, the creation of value and its policy of innovation, sustainable development and corporate governance
Indra, the top IT multinational in Spain and one of the leaders in Europe and Latin America, has renewed its presence in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSWI) and the Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index (DJSI STOXX) for the seventh consecutive year. Indra forms part of the IT Services segment, one of the five sub-sectors into which the technological sector is divided.
Indra's continued presence in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index as one of the leading companies in the world represents recognition of its policy in the area of transparency, ethics, innovation, sustainable development and corporate governance. It also reinforces its actions as a value of socially responsible investments.
Indra is the only European company in the global index's technological IT Services and Internet sub-sector, which also includes SK C&C of South Korea, Teredata from the United States, and the Indian company Wipro. Indra has achieved its best global rating since 2008. It has also significantly improved in environmental aspects, while maintaining a good assessment for financial and social variables.
Sustainability reference index
The DJS World Index selects the 340 most socially responsible companies out of the 2,500 largest companies in the world listed in the Dow Jones World Index. Indra forms part of this list as recognition of the actions it carries out in financial, environmental and social areas.
The Dow Jones STOXX Sustainability Index (DJSI STOXX) selects the 166 leading European businesses in terms of sustainability from the 600 companies that comprise the European DJ STOXX 600 index.
The family of indexes that comprise the Dow Jones Sustainability Group Index (DJSGI) has been prepared since 1999 using information requested beforehand from leading market capitalisation companies, representing a reference index for business and financial sectors. The information and data required to estimate whether a company may join the DJSGI are obtained by analysing an extensive questionnaire and the public information of those businesses. Companies that earn the title "Member of DJSI" are publicly recognised as leaders in social, environmental and strong financial activity aspects.
Sustainable development through innovation
Remaining in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index represents recognition of Indra's commitment to the creation of value and sustainability. This commitment translates into undertaking the challenges and opportunities marked by each of its target audiences through innovation, the central axis of its activity and of its corporate responsibility. This audience includes shareholders, employees, customers, vendors, the environment and society.
In its clear commitment to transparency, since 2008 Indra has published an integrated report that describes the company's performance in its financial, social and environmental plans in an integrated manner. Indra's 2011 Annual Report is also the first in Spain to follow the guidelines marked by the pilot programme of the International Integrated Reporting Committee (IIRC). Indra is one of five Spanish companies and one of three technological businesses in the world selected to participate in this pilot programme, which has the main objective of developing an international standard or framework for integrated reports, as well as promoting its adoption by organisations in order to offer information that is more complete and understandable.
Indra also contributes towards sustainable development by applying innovation to solutions and services that help improve quality of life in areas such as healthcare and transport, that facilitate the management and improvement of environmental conditions and promote accessibility to new technologies.
