Indra, the only spanish company acknowledged one of the world´s most ethical businesses

Indra, the premier IT company in Spain and a leading IT multinational in Europe, has been the only Spanish firm acknowledged “one of the world’s most ethical companies in 2011” by the Ethisphere Institute. The institute is a think-tank dedicated to the creation, promotion and implementation of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability.

The IT multinational appears among the 110-company list published in this fifth edition of the ranking based on an in-depth study comprising thousands of companies worldwide from 38 different sectors. Indra was included in the list because of its best practices in business ethics which are key elements for success, for the benefit of society and set high standards for the sector's ethics”.

The methodology of the ranking includes reviewing codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluating the investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looking at activities designed to improve corporate citizenship; and studying nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers. The list will be featured in the Q1 issue of the quarterly magazine Ethisphere.
Indra's commitment to corporate citizenship applies to all employees through the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct. In 2009 the company redefined the 2000 Code with a new and improved version in order to adapt it to the best business practices.

Being considered as one of the world's most ethical companies represents a new acknowledgement to Indra in terms of corporate responsibility and sustainability. Weeks ago, the company was also identified leader of the sector by “The Sustainability Yearbook 2011”, the most important annual report in this area at World scale. Indra has also featured in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes for five years and is a leading company in the IT services and Internet sub sector.

Indra's policy is based on the search for excellence and leadership in sustainability, corporate responsibility and corporate governance while observing these aspects so as to implement the best practices and national and international recommendations. 
Regarding commitment to equality, Indra recently adhered to Women's Empowerment Principles, an initiative started up by United Nations Global Compact and United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) to empower women in the workplace, marketplace   and community.
