The Hungarian Football Federation has awarded Indra, the number one technology multinational in Spain and a leader in Europe and Latin America, a contract to undertake the first phase of the comprehensive security project for the national league's first-division stadiums. The contract, for a total of 2.2 million euros, combines implementation of the most advanced systems and solutions in the areas of critical infrastructure protection and ticketing.

The solution designed by Indra includes the implementation of access-control and closed-circuit television systems with high-resolution cameras to facilitate viewing of the stadium from a control centre. In addition, contactless ticket-readers will be installed, along with a system that will use the web to centralise ticket purchases, with control of membership cards. Its main contribution is the connection of these systems to the police database to check that the persons included on blacklists do not have access to ticketing and, subsequently, to the stadiums.

To develop the project, Indra shall use the ticketing management and access control solutions of the Spanish Professional Football League (LFP), currently installed in the 42 stadiums of the BBVA League and the Adelante League. These will be adapted by the technology multinational to the requirements of the Hungarian Football Federation.

The aim of the project is, in the words of the Hungarian Football Federation, to make football “a sport for all audiences”, where fans can go with their families safely, without fear of encountering violent situations. Likewise it represents a step towards complying with the security requirements of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).

This first phase awarded to Indra includes implementation of the technology multinational's solution in six of the 14 first-division stadiums that currently exist in the country: two in Budapest, and one each in Gyor, Diosgyor, Szombathely Haladas and Keckskemet. In total, they have a capacity of nearly 65,000 spectators. The Hungarian Football Federation anticipates finishing the comprehensive security project in all the first-division stadiums in the country in over the course of 2013.

The technology multinational thereby reinforces its significant position in the area of large-event security and mass seating facilities, with references such as the Expo in Zaragoza, the Universal Forum of Cultures in Barcelona, the America's Cup in Valencia, the Expo in Seville and the Olympic Games in Barcelona. The project has great strategic value due to the security requirements FIFA is demanding in all stadiums. In addition, the solution designed by Indra, based on the ticketing and access control systems of the LFP, is exportable to all types of sporting events held in stadiums.

 Leader in security

Indra is a leader in the implementation of security and emergency centres for security forces, an area in which it has extensive experience with references such as the CISEM for the Madrid City Hall, the SIMGE of the Emergency Military Unit, the SIGE of Civil Protection and the integrated security and emergency system for the Fire Department of the Government of Catalonia, among others. Thanks to this and other projects, over 40 million citizens are protected with emergency management systems from Indra.

The company also has significant references in the development and implementation of identification systems, such as the Spanish electronic ID card and the Portuguese passport, and it is a leader in the development and implementation of coastal surveillance systems in Europe, with projects in Spain, Portugal, Lithuania and Romania, and, outside of Europe, in Hong Kong. Likewise, its technology is on the cutting edge of airport border management, with solutions such as the rapid-access system implemented at the Madrid-Barajas and Barcelona-El Prat airports.

In the area of infrastructure protection, it has international references in airports, ports, railways, energy and telecommunications companies, financial institutions, buildings and corporate headquarters, security forces and large industrial facilities.

Likewise, the company is collaborating with the CNPIC, a body under the Secretariat of State for Security of the Spanish Interior Ministry, in several of its actions to provide effective support to the security of critical Spanish infrastructures that provide essential services to society. For example, it is participating actively in the Informal Critical Infrastructures Protection Group (Grupo Informal de Protección de Infraestructuras Críticas – GIPIC), led by CNPIC, whose objective is to prepare support guides for the operators of these infrastructures for the preparation of their security and specific protection plans.
