  • It is a totally flexible service that enables each organisation to design an on-demand training model from Indra's cloud, which includes everything from infrastructures to a complete range of services and content in various scopes
  • e-campus has been developed based on the training and talent management model that the IT company has implemented for the 40,000 professionals who belong to the organisation around the world
  • Students can administer the time they dedicate to their training and participate in various activities by means of electronic devices connected to the net, regardless of their physical location

Indra, Spain's number one IT multinational and one of the largest operating in Europe and Latin America, has implemented an ambitious e-learning service for talent development supported by state-of-the-art technologies that will help companies to design from the "cloud" their own training models based on a wide range of content and tools.

This service forms part of Flex-IT, the proprietary model for providing Cloud services that has been developed by Indra and which uses the full potential that is offered by the Cloud, aligning the availability of infrastructures and services to the real demand of clients at any time.

This innovative virtual university or e-campus is provided in the SaaS (Software as a Service) mode and one of its main advantages is the combination of skills and talent training with social e-learning. Accordingly, the platform assigns courses related to the skills required for each professional profile, facilitating the tasks of the company's training department. Additionally, it includes all the aspects related to social learning, adapting the relationship method of social networks to the management of training. Students and teachers thus become an active part of the campus by means of web communities, discussion forums, blogs, virtual classrooms, notice boards and notes. This enables the construction of a network model based on professional-to-professional training, facilitating the sharing, extension and use of the knowledge available in the organisation.

This service has been created based on the talent development model that Indra has made available to its staff of more than 40,000 professionals. The figures speak for themselves: in 2011 Indra managed almost 40,800 matriculations and 353,513 hours of training were completed, of which more than 200,000 were classroom training and 150,000 were on-line training. Moreover, the completion percentage of the virtual training exceeded 70% with a pass rate of over 99%.

Flexible on-demand service

e-campus offers a complete business solution, from the provision of technological infrastructure and a help desk to the management of didactic resources and tutorials and tasks related to the administration of the training. In this scope, each organisation can flexibly contract the services of most interest to it. For example, a company can request the solution as a service (including technical support infrastructure and the management of catalogues of courses and manuals) and internally maintain all the administration processes (registrations, cancellations, matriculations, creation and implementation of training plans).

Similarly, it can contract the integrated e-learning service, in which the human resources department simply establishes the directives of the training model most suited to the organisation and carries out monitoring while Indra's multidisciplinary teams manage not only the infrastructure but also the content and the quality of the services involved in the organisation of the platform.  The global service also includes the creation of communities in the training portal, the assignment of users to the community and their maintenance, and the management of wikis, blogs and news.

The technological company also offers its customers the possibility of creating their own training catalogues. This means that they can select any of the available courses, request the preparation of a catalogue specific to their business and subcontract new courses to another supplier.

Continuous training and integrated vision

The technological platform enables students and teachers to have at their disposal all the elements required to study and teach the chosen content via a variety of electronic devices connected to the net. Accordingly, students will have access at all times to the training portal to follow the courses, attend virtual tutorials and resolve doubts in the virtual library, and they can organise their time to make optimal use of their training hours. Additionally, the trainer will have total visibility over the students and the training material. That is, in addition to being able to access evaluation reports and virtual forums and classrooms, teachers can coordinate with other tutors, monitor registrations and cancellations in the platforms and perform numerous other tasks.

Mass training, budget optimisation and centralised management of all the training are some of the other main benefits of the platform. Moreover, it offers data analysis options and mechanisms to support decision making so that both the students and teachers and the organisation can fully benefit from the training activities.

Indra's good talent management practices have allowed it to become one of the leading companies in the world in terms of sustainability. The company has renewed its presence in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the sixth straight year.

Indra also has more than ten years of experience in global human capital management projects and Human Resources consultancy. The multinational combines its knowledge of the various sectors and its years of experience in the production of traditional models to detect, attract, evaluate and develop talent with the new trends being generated in the ever-changing environment and in the knowledge society.

At the cutting edge of Cloud services

Indra is at the cutting edge of Cloud Computing services and solutions thanks to its comprehensive offer, called Indra In-Cloud, which encompasses the entire value chain of Information Technology services: from consultancy (helping customers to optimise their capacities and minimise their costs) to the development of new solutions, not forgetting the outsourcing of IT services.

In mid-2011, Indra announced the development of a proprietary Cloud Computing model called Flex-IT that would provide on-demand services to customers. Flex-IT is based on the premise that managing Information Technology requires a combination of traditional as well as virtual models supported on private and/or public clouds. This delivery model, which is more evolved than the traditional one, represents a significant change in the way that outsourcing services are offered since it provides access in record time from any location and only paying for what is used.

Although Indra has been providing SaaS services to its customers since 2005 using flexible pricing models, the new Flex-IT model represents a drastic change in how the technological resources needed by customers are made available to them. Flex-IT will enable infrastructure to be managed better and more efficiently, resulting in improved competitiveness and prices for end customers.
