- The main benefits expected from this innovation project are the increase in renewable energy generation availability, a more efficient network with fewer failures, and the reduction of the cost of energy bills
- The Indra company will contribute all of its knowledge for the development and use of an open and interoperable architecture that will facilitate the construction and deployment of power management solutions that will contribute to a greater consumption of renewable energy, proactive and real-time operation of distribution networks and the predictive maintenance of assets
Minsait, an Indra company, is leading the development and integration of advanced analytics technologies and Internet of Things of PLATOON (Digital PLAtform and analytic TOOls for eNergy), a project funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union whose objective is the development of a new generation of digital solutions and products that will accelerate the gradual decarbonization of economy and energy efficiency.
Thanks to this project, renewable generation companies will be able to improve forecasting and maximize the value and availability of their generation in the energy system. In addition, it will increase the reliability and efficiency of the grid, which will have fewer incidents thanks to the energy flexibility available in the connected energy resources. Customers and prosumers can also participate in the provision of services and reduce the cost of their energy bills
Minsait will contribute its experience to build an open Internet of Things and Big Data platform as an interoperability element to enable a Marketplace that includes advanced solutions and services for asset management, microgrids and energy efficiency developed from data analysis and distributed/edge computing technologies.
In addition, the Indra subsidiary will actively participate in the project pilots with Active Grid Management (AGM) and Asset Performance Management (APM), its solutions for the smart management of networks and distribution assets developed within its Onesait Utilities Grid suite, already implemented in more than 300 utilities worldwide.
AGM is the Industrial Internet of Things solution developed by Minsait to help with the dynamic, proactive, distributed and intelligent operation of medium and low voltage power grids. For its part, APM provides predictive maintenance based on the measurement of the health index of the facilities and devices.
The company will also participate in the measurement of the impact on the utilities business in order to accelerate the go-to-market of the new generation of systems and platforms that are developed within the PLATOON framework.
PLATOON, led by the French company ENGIE and coordinated by Tecnalia, will provide a new generation of tools to ensure reliable and efficient coordination of the main generators, network operators, representation agents and millions of prosumers and distributed energy resources. It has a budget of €11.5 million and is expected to finish in late 2022.
Minsait is regarded as one of the main technological partners, which can help companies to overcome the challenges of the global energy transition, thanks to the Onesait Utilities Grid, its comprehensive solution for the smart and integrated management of distribution networks and its ability to provide new digital services. The Gartner Market Guide for Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) highlights Minsait as a leading provider in this area. The company has also been recognized as a “Major Player” in the “EMEA Service Providers for Digital Grid Enablement 2019” report of the IDC.
