Submarine missions are increasingly focused on reconnaissance, surveillance and intelligence activities.
Operating discreetly—seeing without being seen—is the main advantage of using a submarine. Indra has developed the Aries-S, a low-probability-of-intercept (LPI) radar specially adapted to the submarine environment. This high-resolution system is capable of detecting the smallest targets, while the low-level signal used by the radar makes it practically undetectable.
The surveillance of the electromagnetic environment is carried out using RESM (radar electronic support measurement) systems based on digital wideband reception technology, a type of processing that guarantees high sensitivity, even in electromagnetically dense environments, and speedy analysis.
Conscious of the severe space restrictions imposed by a submarine, especially with regards the use of its masts, Indra has developed a combined-antenna solution which allows radar signal and communication signal intelligence tasks to be carried out simultaneously.
Nowadays missions are conducted in integrated environments, which means wideband communications are essential. Applying the knowledge acquired over 25 years of experience in satellite communications, Indra has developed the most sophisticated satellite communication terminals for submarines, which have already demonstrated their reliability in the secure, high-speed transmission of tactical information.
Keys
- Technological sovereignty, which means we can customize solutions to the specific requirements of the platform where it is installed
- Global presence: in addition to leading the market in Spain, the armed forces of Germany, Brazil, the Netherlands, India, Indonesia, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Turkey have placed their trust in Indra's technology
- A leader in developing satellite communication terminals (X and Ku bands) for conventional submarines
