- The distributor will adopt the multinational consulting and technology firm's commercial management system (inCOM) and distribution management system (inGRID) to improve service quality for its customers and reduce operating costs
- Indra continues to grow in the Peruvian energy sector and consolidates its leadership throughout the world, where 140 companies in more than 30 countries have implemented its energy solutions and utilities.
Indra, the leading Spanish multinational consulting and technology firm and one of the main players in Europe and Latin America, has signed a contract with Electro Dunas, one of the top electrical distribution companies in Peru, to implement in the company its support systems for the technical and commercial business processes related to electrical power distribution. The project, for an amount of nearly €3 million, also includes adapting Indra's solutions to the specific requirements of Peruvian regulations.
With this agreement, Electro Dunas will adopt the inCOM (Commercial Management) and inGRID (Distribution Management) solutions developed by the multinational. inCOM covers all the management of a company's commercial cycle, from meter reading, billing and collection, to customer service, service order management and commercial indicators. On the other hand, inGRID provides support for network operation processes (incident detection, manoeuvre management and discharges) and also manages customer notifications and field orders for operations in the distribution network and customer connections.
Among other benefits, the new systems will provide the company with tools for improving the control of its commercial and technical processes, with the objective of offering improved service for its customers and optimising operating costs. It will also enable it to comply with the information requirements established by OSINERGMIN, the public Peruvian body responsible for regulating and supervising companies in the electrical, hydrocarbon and mining sector to ensure they comply with regulations.
Electro Dunas is the electrical power distribution company in the Ica department. The area of its concession includes the provinces of Ica, Pisco, Chinca, Nazca and Palpa in the Ica department; Castrovirreyna and Huaytará in the Huancavelica department; and Lucanas, Parinacochas, Páucar del Sara Sara and Sucre in the Ayacucho department. It has nearly 200,000 customers (with an annual growth ratio of 10%). The company was founded in 1912 and is headquartered in the Ica region south of Lima, one of the most dynamic areas in the country, primarily due to the development of the agro-industrial, fishing, commercial, tourism, mining, gas and textile industries.
Growth in the Peruvian energy sector and global leadership in the area of utilities
This is Indra's first contract for implementing its solutions in Peru's electricity market, where this is a tremendous potential for executing similar projects for other distributors in the country. These companies are immersed in a modernisation phase associated to the significant growth in demand, a stable regulatory environment and the need for investments in order to improve the service provided to customers.
As a result, the multinational will drive its growth in the Peruvian energy sector, where it already has important projects such as a consulting contract with the Organismo Supervisor de la Inversión en Energía y Minería (OSINERGMIN, the Supervisory Body of Investments in Energy and Mines) to design the plan for implementing Smart Grids or modernising the technological platform for the business processes of Petroperú, the public hydrocarbon company.
The solutions for energy and utilities developed by Indra have been implemented at more than 140 electricity, water and gas companies in over 30 countries. Currently more than 100 million customers around the world are managed using systems developed by the multinational consulting and technology firm.
Indra is the leader of the utilities and energy market in Spain and Latin America and an international technological partner for Spanish energy companies. It is present in nearly all Latin American countries, its customers include the most important companies in the industry, and more than 40 Brazilian companies are managed using Indra solutions.
It is also working on developing new technologies and solutions in the area of energy efficiency and sustainability for generation, transmission, distribution, transport, industrial and residential consumption. The company is currently working on various Smart Grid projects that ensure sustainable, safe and economic development, and it is also participating as an adviser in the National Energy Commission (Spain) to develop Smart Grids within the Smart Grids work group.
