InDesign
Solution for helping railway authorities to design and analyze railway infrastructure signaling systems. It covers the complete life cycle of the security installations designed, from their initial conception until the final inspections and modifications made to them once implemented, thus also providing assistance during the operation and maintenance processes.
InDesign is a software product based on an easily configurable collection of railway components that address the graphic and alphanumeric needs of the user when designing railway interlocking systems.
InDesign covers existing needs throughout the complete life cycle of the railway security installations:
- Design of interlocking systems
- Encoding of interlocking elements
- Calculation and analysis of signaling conditions
- Maintenance of existing infrastructures (support in reengineering and adaptation tasks)
InDesign provides the operational specifications of the security installations which it manages, customized to the needs of the railway authority. For example:
- Installation design schema
- Line plans with all the related installations
- Table of interlocking movements
- Signaling conditions
- Status of devices and deviations
- Table of incompatibilities
InDesign also comprises a capacity analysis module for studying the optimization of railway traffic on the designed infrastructure and providing feedback on the research and the conclusions derived regarding the track engineering decisions that are being made during the design, analysis and adaptation of the installation.
The capacity analysis model performs three types of tests:
- Calculation of the Critical Section, which identifies the black spots in the sector infrastructure
- Calculation of the Critical Section with Schedule, which performs the same calculation as above but applied to a traffic scenario with a set schedule
- Calculation of the Maximum Capacity, which defines the maximum number and frequency of services that the infrastructure is capable of managing
