The demand for more efficient, fast and punctual transportation methods and systems, while maintaining the highest levels of security, is a challenge that requires changes in the way railways are operated. We have therefore redefined the method for operating rail control centres, allowing operators to focus on real-time tasks, such as rescheduling and monitoring traffic by automating the most repetitive tasks and integrating the different systems needed for operation.
We have a wide-ranging experience that includes solutions for different infrastructure types, such as high-speed lines, conventional lines and underground lines, and we have the tools needed to manage all of these lines from the control centres.
Objectives
- To maximise infrastructure capacity
- To manage infrastructures with fewer operators
- To share real-time information between the different systems, providing operators with aggregate information and helping them to perform their duties more efficiently
- To improve control room ergonomics
- We propose an integration model based on open standards with a flexible information model to permit the easy integration of any technology and the use of proprietary products, either alone or combined with existing third-party systems in the control centre
Planning
We provide flexible systems for managing the tactical and operational planning aspects of lines, as well as information transformation and communication processes to integrate the schedules created in the systems that use the information.
Our applications make it possible to define different service levels to match the specific commercial capacity needs to each time slot. Individual services can also be managed by time slot, for defining both internal services and special services like shuttle trains.
The different service levels and individual services are organised into daily schedules, which means that the schedule for all the services on a given day can be specified. The different daily schedules created can be allocated to the desired days through station schedules.
Control
We provide solutions for monitoring, supervising and controlling traffic in real time, using cutting-edge and standard technologies.
Our solutions monitor the position and movement of trains and permit both the automatic and manual regulation of services, based on planned timetables and frequencies and the operational criteria established.
Operators can modify train schedules and routes at any time through the use of simple, secure and functional user interfaces.
Our systems also manage special situations that occur during the operation of services, either by defining in advance how the system should behave in abnormal contexts, or by changing the regulation practices and criteria in order to adapt to the new situation.
Integration
The unique integration architecture of Indra systems makes it possible to delegate functions to third-party systems, thus making use of existing infrastructures and reducing the cost of updating lines.
Our standards-based solutions can be integrated with systems from third-party providers, offering a unique interface and processes for planning, monitoring and controlling lines regardless of the manufacturer of the signalling systems, thus facilitating the coordinated operation of integrated lines.
Naturally, our systems can also be integrated with other rail management applications, such as passenger information systems or detector systems.
